A Little About Me

My name is Christopher Harty. I am a Senior Software Engineer(among other things) located in New York with 15+ years of experience.

I have a crazy amount of experience with both software and technology projects across various environments, platforms, frameworks, and languages.

I am a jack of all trades and a master of none, which changed about 7 years ago (around 2007) when I made a conscious decision to shift from System Engineer to Software Engineer. This was a natural move as I had been doing development since before my IT background even started (circa 1997 with Borland C).

I enjoy creating value and clarity within solutions as it allows a great out come every time.

I started my own business 1999 (Chameleon Professional Services Inc.) where I performed everything from tutoring, web design, IT services, and general development, only looking toward the future.

My main motivation has always been the problems in technology, because they offer a situation where I become an engineer, architect, and so much more in order to construct a solution.

Skills

I would give myself high marks regarding all things technology.
My reseasoning stems from the fact that I have fundamental and hands-on experience regarding how technology works.

Education

Education is definitely one of the many great gifts the world has to offer and while I love to learn, I have always had a hard time conforming to formal educational standards.

Memorization and redundant tasks are not my strong suit, which I believe, makes me a great engineer; I will always look for the most flexible, efficient, robust, and easy way of creating a solution.

To be honest this is not typically the quickest path to creating solutions, but I believe in the concepts of "build the requirements 3 times and code it once" and "what is worth building, is worth building the first time the correct way"
